Frequently asked questions

Workouts & Class Experience

What kind of workouts do you offer?

We offer two signature training formats: Lagree and Barre Intensity. Both are low-impact yet high-intensity workouts designed to deliver fast, visible results while protecting your joints and minimizing injury risk.

Lagree is performed on the Megaformer and combines strength, core stability, and muscular endurance with constant time-under-tension. The movements are ultra-slow and controlled, which keeps your heart rate elevated throughout, making it both a strength and cardio workout in one.

Barre Intensity blends Pilates principles, ballet techniques, and strength training, using small equipment like ankle weights, resistance bands, Pilates balls, and light dumbbells. It emphasizes posture, alignment, balance, and controlled full-body movements, with short cardio bursts that raise your pulse.

Many clients alternate between the two formats—not only because they complement each other beautifully, but also because each method works the body in fundamentally different ways. This variation helps improve overall fitness while allowing different muscle groups to recover between sessions.

If you plan to attend more than three classes per week, we strongly recommend alternating between Lagree and Barre. Working the same muscles too frequently can lead to fatigue or overuse injuries, and mixing modalities helps you train smarter, not just harder.

I’m a beginner. Can I still join your classes?

Absolutely! Many of our clients started with little or no prior fitness experience. Our classes are designed to be accessible to all levels, and our instructors are here to support you every step of the way. You’ll receive clear guidance, personalized modifications, and encouragement to move at your own pace—so there’s no need to worry about keeping up.

We also offer a beginner-friendly class called “Lagree Light.” This class moves at a slower pace, features simpler movements, and focuses on helping you build confidence with the equipment and the Lagree method. You’ll still feel that signature shake and burn—but with extra time to learn and adjust your form along the way.

Whether you’re completely new to exercise or just new to Lagree or Barre, you’ll be in good hands—and you’ll feel stronger after every session.

What’s the difference between Lagree and Barre?

Lagree is performed on the Megaformer and emphasizes core strength, muscular endurance, and full body conditioning through ultra-slow, time-under-tension movements. It’s also a cardio workout because of its continuous flow. Barre Intensity, on the other hand, draws from Pilates and ballet and uses props like bands, ankle weights, and Pilates balls. The focus is on posture, precision, and dynamic strength, with bursts of elevated heart rate.

While Lagree pushes your muscles to fatigue with high resistance and sustained effort, Barre refines control, posture, and movement precision. They work the body in complementary ways, and many clients enjoy combining both.

Is the Lagree Method the same as Pilates?

No. While both focus on core engagement and controlled movement, their goals, intensity, and methods differ significantly. Pilates was created by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century as a rehabilitative method. It emphasizes body alignment, breath, and controlled movement patterns using light springs and body weight. It’s restorative and ideal for improving motor patterns and flexibility.

The Lagree Method, developed by Sebastien Lagree, is a modern evolution of these principles. It integrates elements of HIIT, strength training, and endurance, using  slower movements on the Megaformer. The focus is on maximum muscle fatigue and metabolic conditioning. The pace is slower, the challenge is higher, and the goal is to push muscles into failure safely for faster and deeper results.

What can I expect in terms of results?

You can expect increased strength, muscular tone, better posture, and improved endurance— often noticeable after just a few sessions. Because our workouts are low-impact, your joints are protected while your muscles are challenged. You’ll likely feel sore for 24 to 48 hours after class, which is completely normal and a sign that your muscles are being activated and strengthened.

What if I have an injury or physical limitation?

Start by checking with your doctor or physiotherapist. Once cleared, let your instructor know before class. Our coaches are trained to offer safe, thoughtful modifications so that you can enjoy an effective workout without compromising your recovery or comfort.

What if I am pregnant?

Yes, you can continue working out at Boostd during pregnancy—with adaptations. First, consult your doctor. Then, please contact us before booking your class. We’ll explain how we can tailor the experience based on your trimester and fitness background.

In the first trimester, most exercises can be done with minor modifications. From the second trimester onward, we recommend lowering the intensity significantly and suggest attending Lagree Light classes, where instructors can more easily guide you. We will gradually adapt your practice to accommodate your changing body. For your safety and your baby’s, we ask clients to stop participating in classes no later than four weeks before their due date.

If you’ve never done Lagree before, we strongly advise starting with Lagree Light rather than jumping into a full Lagree class. We do not recommend starting Lagree for the first time after your first trimester.

What if I’ve never done Pilates or strength training before?

No problem at all. Our classes are designed to support beginners. The instructors provide step-by-step guidance, clear demonstrations, and help you with modifications when needed. Whether you’re easing into fitness or returning after a break, you’ll find a welcoming and encouraging environment.

From what age can clients attend classes?

Clients are welcome to attend classes at Boostd starting at 18 years old.

We also allow teenagers aged 16 and above to participate, as long as they are accompanied by a parent attending the same class. This ensures a safe and supervised environment for younger participants.

What if I’m not a big fan of group classes?

We hear this often—and we understand. Our classes are small to medium-sized, creating a more intimate and personal environment than traditional fitness studios. Everyone is focused on their own workout, and there’s no pressure to perform or compare.

Lagree, in particular, is a format that doesn’t require coordination or rhythm. Once you’re on the Megaformer, you’re focused inward. Many clients who previously avoided group fitness love the Boostd experience because it’s supportive, personal, and entirely non-competitive.

How many classes should I take per week?

Our workouts are intense, and recovery plays an essential role in your results. One class per week already creates noticeable changes if you’re consistent. Two classes per week allow for faster strength and endurance progression. Three classes per week will quickly bring you to peak form.

It’s not just about volume—it’s about consistency. It’s better to train once a week regularly than to do three classes in a row followed by long breaks. Also, if you want to train more frequently, we recommend mixing Lagree and Barre. They activate muscles differently and allow for more balanced recovery.

Always listen to your body. Feeling sore is normal, but training on sore muscles can reduce effectiveness and may lead to injury over time.

Are your instructors certified?

Yes—all our coaches are certified in the method they teach. On top of that, they follow an ongoing training program each year under the supervision of our in-house education team, led by Adrienne, Michela, and Tresor. This ensures that every instructor stays current and delivers the safest, most effective experience possible.

Do I need to bring anything?

We provide workout towels, shower towels, and premium products in the changing rooms. For Lagree, you’ll need non-slip grip socks for safety and hygiene. If you don’t have any, we sell them at the studio.

Are grip socks mandatory?

Not yet—but they will become mandatory soon. For now, you can still practice barefoot, but we strongly recommend using grip socks to ensure better traction and cleanliness. We have a curated selection available for purchase at the studio.

Class Language

All classes are taught in English to accommodate our international community. However, many of our instructors are fluent in German and will happily translate instructions or assist you if needed.
Instructors who speak German include: Gaia, Julia, Marko, Queen, Sebastien, Jennifer, Nari, Anna, and Alessandra.

Booking & Cancellations

How do I book a class?

You can book classes directly through our website or by downloading the Boostd mobile app, which offers the smoothest booking experience on your phone.

While the website works well, the app gives you access to additional features designed to make your experience easier and more connected:

  • It has a news section on the homepage, where we share updates about the studio, events, and new offerings.
  • If you allow notifications, the app will alert you instantly when a spot opens on the waitlist or when you need to confirm your place—so you don’t have to constantly check your emails.
  • You can download your receipts directly from your profile, which is helpful for health insurance reimbursement.

You can download the Boostd app for [iOS] or [Android].

How far in advance can I book classes?

Our class schedule opens 8 weeks in advance, so you can plan your workouts ahead of time with peace of mind.

If your favorite class is already fully booked, we highly recommend joining the waitlist. Cancellations happen frequently, and clients on the waitlist often get a spot—sometimes even just hours before class starts.

The class is full. Should I join the waitlist?

Yes! By signing up for the waitlist, you have more than an 70% chance of getting into the class. Here’s how it works:

  • If a spot opens more than 12 hours before class:
  • We will automatically assign the spot to the next person on the waitlist, based on the order in which clients joined.
  • You’ll receive an email letting you know you’ve been moved into the class.
  • If you can no longer attend, you’ll need to cancel at least 3 hours before class to avoid a late cancellation fee.
  • If a spot opens less than 12 hours before class:
  • You won’t be automatically added to the class.
  • You’ll receive an email and/or mobile app notification that a spot is available.
  • It’s then first come, first served—you’ll need to click the mobile app notification or the link in the email to secure your spot.

Joining the waitlist is easy, commitment-free, and gives you a strong chance of getting into your favorite class—so don’t hesitate to use it!

Please note that you will need a class credit to register on the waitlist. Your credit will be returned when you cancel your waitlist reservation or at the end of the class if you were still on the waitlist.

What happens if I arrive late?
We ask everyone to arrive 5 to 10 minutes before class starts. This gives you time to check in, get settled, and mentally prepare—without stress.

If you arrive a few minutes late and you’ve been to Boostd before, we’ll hold your spot. However, if it’s your first class, we will not be able to let you join late. That’s because we take a few minutes before class begins to explain the equipment and give important safety instructions. If you miss this, the risk of injury is higher, and your experience could be compromised.

If you do arrive late for your first class, don’t worry—we’ll help you rebook your trial. Just speak to our team at the front desk or send us a message afterward.

What is your cancellation policy?

You can cancel your class reservation up to 3 hours before the start of class without any penalty. If you cancel within 3 hours or miss the class without canceling, one of the following will apply:

  • If you’re using a credit pack, the class will be deducted from your package.
  • If you’re on an All You Can Boost unlimited pass, a CHF 25 late cancellation fee will be charged (For the 30’ Lagree Ramp classes, the late cancellation fee is CHF 15.

Unless, you have not used yet your yearly joker (see infra)

To be mindful to all clients, and those who could be on the waitlist, we thank you to cancel your reservations as soon as you know you won’t attend the class.

What is a "late cancellation joker"?

We understand that life sometimes gets in the way. That’s why we give each client one “late cancellation joker” per calendar year.

  • If you’re on a credit package, your late cancelled class will be credited back.
  • If you’re on an unlimited plan, the late cancellation fee will be waived.

You’ll receive an automatic email confirming when your joker has been used. Please note that no-shows are not eligible—the joker only applies if you cancel late. You do not need to contact us to use your joker. The process is automated.

What happens if I miss a class?

If you don’t cancel and don’t show up, the same rules apply—your class credit will be deducted, or a fee will be charged depending on your pass type. That said, we strongly encourage you to cancel your spot, even if it’s last minute. This allows someone else on the waitlist to attend, and helps keep the schedule running smoothly for everyone.

We can’t emphasize enough the value of a mindful booking and cancellation culture. When everyone only books classes they genuinely intend to attend—and cancels if plans change—it benefits the entire community. Ultimately, that means better access, less frustration, and more fairness for all, including you.

Can I switch classes?

If you’re more than 3 hours before class, you can cancel and rebook any class directly through our website or the Boostd app—no need to contact us.

If you’re within 3 hours of class start time and would like to attend an earlier session than the one you originally booked, just send us an email at hello@boostd.life. We’ll do our best to help you make the switch.

Please note that we’re unable to accommodate switches to a later class when you’re within 3 hours of class start time.

Can I share my class package with someone else?

Yes, you can share our 12-month class packages with a ‘related contact’. When purchasing this type of package, you’ll see the option at checkout to share it with someone else. Simply add your related contact through your profile settings, and once linked, the class package will appear in both of your accounts. You’ll each be able to book classes from the same package. You can also share your package with up to 5 related contacts.

Please note that 3-month and 1-month class packages, as well as unlimited passes, are not shareable. These are priced with built-in per-class discounts that reward individual visit frequency and are designed for personal use only.

Can I book a class for someone else?

Yes, you can book classes on behalf of a related contact, as long as they have available class credits in their account. If they don’t, you’ll have the option during checkout to purchase credits for them.

If you’d like to book for someone who has never attended a class at Boostd, we recommend encouraging them to create their own account—it only takes a minute. And don’t forget to share your referral code when they sign up: they’ll receive a free trial class, and once they attend their second class, you’ll get a free class credited to your account as a thank you.

Pricing, Packages, Gift Cards and Offers

Are your prices competitive?

Yes. At Boostd, we’re committed to offering a premium fitness experience—from state-of-the-art equipment and top-tier instructors to beautifully designed studios in central Zurich and attentive customer support—all at a price point that remains fair and accessible.

We never compromise on quality, but we also recognize the importance of value. Whether you’re new to boutique fitness or looking for expert coaching to elevate your training, we believe our pricing reflects the results and service we deliver.

At the same time, we’re deeply committed to making our workouts as accessible as possible. Our goal is to positively impact the health and well-being of a broad and diverse community. That’s why we offer a variety of discounts, trial offers, and flexible pricing options to help more people benefit from what we do. (See below for details.)

Do you offer trial classes?

Yes, we offer two special welcome offers for new clients-and the best part is, they’re cumulative:

  • A trial class for just CHF 20
  • A discovery package with 3 class credits for CHF 82

If a friend referred you, make sure they send you their referral code. Enter it in the referral box when creating your account, and your trial class will be free. You’ll still be able to purchase the discovery package afterwards if you wish.

Trial classes are a great way to discover whether Lagree and/or Barre Intensity are right for you-no pressure, no commitment, just a chance to experience our methods firsthand.

Please note that these special offers are limited to one-time use per person. We kindly ask you not to create multiple accounts to take advantage of these deals. If you do, we’ll need to follow up and request reimbursement for the difference. If you need to update the email linked to your account, just reach out to us-we’re happy to help.

Can I create several accounts?

Please Create Only One Boostd Account

To keep your experience smooth and consistent, we kindly ask that each client creates only one Boostd account.

Why Is This Important?

Having a single account ensures:

  • Your class credits, memberships, and bookings are always correctly tracked.
  • You receive the right updates, reminders, and studio communications.
  • Your visit and training history stays complete.

We also sincerely thank you for respecting our policy and not creating multiple accounts to benefit more than once from our intro offers.

Changed Your Email?

If you’ve changed your email address, please don’t create a new account.
Just reach out to us — we’ll be happy to update your existing profile for you.

How does the referral program work?

Our referral program is designed to reward you for sharing Boostd with your friends.

Inside your Boostd account or app profile, you’ll find a section called “Refer and Earn”. There you’ll see your personal referral code.

When your friend uses that code to sign up:

  • They receive a free trial class.
  • After their second visit, you automatically receive a free class credit, typically within 24 hours.

There’s no limit to how many people you can refer—so if your friends love Boostd as much as you do, it’s a win-win.

Do you offer discounts?

Yes, we offer a 20% discount to individuals in certain categories, including:

  • Full-time students
  • Unemployed individuals
  • KulturLegi holders
  • People living with disabilities
  • ‘Seniors’ from the age of 60yo.

To activate your discount, please email us at hello@boostd.life with proof of eligibility. Once confirmed, we’ll apply the discount to your account. Please note that discounts are valid on all packages, except the unlimited ‘All You Can Boost’ passes.

Do you offer corporate discounts?

We do. Boostd partners with several top employers in Zurich to offer corporate wellness benefits. If your company has an agreement with us, you may be eligible for a 10% on all packages, except the unlimited ‘All You Can Boost’ passes.

To check if your company qualifies, speak with your HR department or email us directly. If your company isn’t part of our network yet, we’d be happy to explore setting up a corporate partnership. Please click here to learn how our coporate program works.

Is Boostd covered by health insurance?

Yes. Boostd is QualiCert certified, which means many of our clients with supplementary health insurance(Zusatzversicherung) can receive partial reimbursement for their training.

The exact amount reimbursed varies depending on your insurer and policy. We recommend contacting your health insurance provider to ask if they cover fitness programs under the QualiCert framework. We’ll gladly provide documentation if needed.

To claim your reimbursement, you simply need to send the receipt that we send immediately after your purchase by email. You can also download your receipts in the ‘Purchases’ section of your profile in the mobile app.

What if I’m on a budget?

We aim to make high-quality movement more accessible, even if you’re watching your finances. Here are a few ways to train with us at a lower cost:

  • You can join our 30’ Lagree Ramp classes,   priced from around CHF 20 per session. They are shorter, but provide nearly the same results as a regular 50’ Lagree class due to the higher intensity of the experience.
  • At Studio Selnau and Forum, a selection of Boostd classes are accessible through myClubs, which may already be included in your corporate wellness benefits.
  • Our referral program allows you to earn free classes simply by inviting your friends.

Consistency is more important than frequency—so even one class a week can bring results if done regularly.

Can I pause my package?

Yes. We understand that life happens—illness, injury, travel, or just an unexpected break in routine.  We offer flexible pause options to help you make the most of your pass.

If you’re injured or sick, send us a doctor’s note, and we’ll pause your package for as long as needed until you’re ready to return.

If you just need a break, we offer “pause time” based on your package duration:

  • For 1-month packages, you can pause for up to 7 days
  • For 3-month packages, up to 21 days
  • For 6-month packages, up to 42 days

Each pause must be for at least 5 days, and all pause requests must be made in advance via email at hello@boostd.life.

Can I purchase a gift card?

Yes! You can easily send a digital gift card through our website or app — choose the amount, add a message, and schedule delivery.

Gift cards can be used for any class pack and are redeemable online.

Learn more about how to purchase, send, and redeem gift cards here.

Do you offer private classes?

We’re happy to discuss what format would serve you best—whether it’s ongoing private coaching or a supported transition into group classes.

Our rates are:

  • CHF 140 for an individual private session
  • CHF 170 for a session with two participants
  • CHF 200 for a group of three
Can I book a private class for an event?

Yes, we can organize private group classes for special events—corporate team-building, birthdays, hen parties, or just a group of friends who want to train together.

To get a tailored quote, please email us with the details of your event, including the number of participants, your preferred date, and any specific goals or themes.

Please note: for our unlimited “All You Can Boost” passes, payment must be made via credit card, as this allows us to automate late cancellation or no-show charges when needed.

Do you offer refunds?

As a general policy, we do not offer refunds. However, we understand that unexpected situations can arise. If you experience a physical condition that prevents you from working out, or face a major life change that affects your ability to use your package, please get in touch with us—we’re here to help and we will offer you a solution.

In some cases, we can also offer to transfer your remaining class credits to a friend.

Studios & Facilities

Where are your studios located?

Boostd operates in central Zurich, with studios in:

  • Kreis 1, Studio Selnau, Brandschenkestrasse 30,
  • Kreis 4, StudioForum, Badenerstrasse 120,
  • Kreis 8, Studio Seefeld, Seefeldstrasse 281,
  • And very soon Kreis 7Studio Klusplatz (opening summer 2025)

Each location has been carefully designed to reflect our values: modern, welcoming, and community-focused.

What facilities do you offer?

All of our studios are fully equipped to provide a premium fitness experience. You’ll find:

  • Thoughtfully designed training areas
  • Changing rooms with lockers
  • Showers stocked with complimentary high-quality products (shower gels, shampoos, body lotions, deodorants, etc..)
  • Complimentary workout and shower towels

We’ve created an environment that feels calm, clean, and inspiring—from the lighting to the scent in the air—so you can focus fully on your workout.

Is parking available?

Yes. White and blue zone parking is available near all studios. If you’re coming to Klusplatz, we recommend parking uphill on Hegibachstrasse, just past the Klusplatz Apotheke. Public transport is also a convenient option—our studios are well connected by tram and bus.

Can I bring my dog?

We love dogs, but to protect the comfort and safety of all clients, we generally don’t allow pets in the studio. That said, if there’s a special circumstance, feel free to email us ahead of time and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Can I bring my baby?

We don’t recommend bringing babies to class. The music volume can be high, and the workout requires concentration and physical engagement. Your safety, and the comfort of both you and your child, is our priority. If you’re navigating childcare challenges, feel free to reach out—sometimes we can suggest off-peak class times or a studio with quieter flow.

How do I check in for class?

Your instructor will usually check you in before class. If you arrive a bit early or want to ensure everything is set, we also offer self check-in via iPad. We especially recommend clients using an unlimited passes to self-check in to avoid any mistakes and automated charges due to check-in mistakes.

To check yourself in:

  1. Open the Boostd mobile app
  2. Go to “Bookings”, then tap “Check In”
  3. Show your QR code to the iPad scanner at the front desk

It’s quick, easy, and ensures a smooth start to your session.

Support & Contact

I have a question. Who can I speak to?

You can reach us anytime at hello@boostd.life. Your messages are read and answered directly by Elena, Marko, or Damien real people, who know the studio and care about your experience. We typically respond within minutes during opening hours.

For urgent matters, you can call us at +41 79 199 81 47.

We love hearing from you, whether it’s a booking question, feedback, or just to say hi.

Do you have a front desk?

Yes, but it depends on the location:

  • At Selnau and Klusplatz, there is usually a front desk staff member available—though not at all times.
  • At Forum and Seefeld, your instructor will welcome and check you in directly.
